About

Hello and welcome! I’m Laura, a thirty-something, stay at home mum to a 2.5 year old toddler and a 1 year old baby living in Belfast, Northern Ireland with my husband and dog.

The SAHM part of me is writing this blog to answer the question of

“What do you do all day?”

I get asked that a lot! I also want to see if there are any other like-minded people out there who share our sometimes quirky ideas!

Northern Ireland’s sometimes a little too small for quirkiness!

As a family of 5 (if you include the dog!) we like the simple life. I chose to become a stay at home mum because I believe it’s the right thing for our family. Don’t assume my husband earns a fortune – he doesn’t! We just make lifestyle choices to balance the books. We live in a modest house,  rarely (never?!) go on foreign holidays and I will probably be wearing the same clothes until there are actual holes in them! As for the hall carpet, well it’s functional so we live with it! I know this lifestyle is not for everyone but if you’ve stumbled across this blog you must have asked google some relevant questions!

I (generally!) love being a stay at home mum. Don’t get me wrong, the kids drive me bonkers but nowhere near as much as my public sector job did! I really believe the pre-school years are so important and let’s be honest I’m a control freak who doesn’t want someone else looking after my kids!!

As a family we also like the “ideas” of self-sufficiencysustainability and green-living.

Lettuce growing has been more successful than the chicken keeping despite having a bachelors degree in Veterinary Medicine from a past life.

So that’s us in a nutshell. I’m not sure if anyone is going to be interested in our lives but even if not I’ll have a lovely journal of this stage of our lives!

Isn’t it ironic how people used to write diaries and keep them private, now everyone’s writing journals hoping someone else will read them!
